Sunday June 22, 2014 from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM (PDT) at Chuck Roberts Park in Talent
The Bike Chata Memorial Race is in memorial of Jozef Wayryniec Slowikowski, who was a prominent member of the biking community in Talent. The Slowikowski family also owned a polish restaurant called “Chata” (the C is silent), where Tally Ho in Talent is currently located. Josef held a bike race called Bike Chata in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Even after they stopped doing the race, Josef could be seen riding his bike around town into his 80’s! We are doing this race in memorial of him and his contribution to the city of Talent, as well as the biking community. His family will be there and participating the day of the race. We are also incorporating the logo from the original Bike Chata for this race. The event will feature two bike events. A 20-mile bike race that starts at 8:30 AM and finishes in downtown Talent at Chuck Roberts Park. This ride takes you past many beautiful vineyards and incorporates part of the race from the original Bike Chata in 1991! There will also be a family friendly 4-mile bike ride starting at 9:00 AM, which passes a beautiful vineyard and is fun for the whole family. A BBQ hosted by Jackson County Fire District 5 and a kid’s bike rodeo by RVTD. Bike Chata, is brought to you by Rouge Valley Bike Group & Asante Ashland Community Hospital. Registration and more information can be found at https://bikechata.eventbrite.com/. Registration forms will also be available soon at Flywheel in Talent. This event would not have been possible without our Sponsors: Avista, Ashland Recology EdenVale Winery, Adroit Construction, Medicap, John L. Scott, and Talent Public Art Committee/ City of Talent. If you haven’t had a chance to visit Talent this is a great opportunity to see what the City of Talent has to offer. With a small town feel, Talent is a great place to visit, live and raise a family.
